The inflation rate in Germany, measured as the year-on-year change in the consumer price index (CPI), stood at +2.9% in April 2026. The rise in overall consumer prices intensified again, after having stood at +2.7% in March 2026. In February 2026, it had been +1.9%. Compared with March 2026, consumer prices increased by 0.6% in April 2026. The inflation rate excluding food and energy, often referred to as core inflation, was +2.3% in April 2026.
