The inflation rate in Germany, measured as the year-on-year change in the consumer price index (CPI), stood at +2.6% in May 2026. The rise in overall consumer prices therefore slowed, after having stood at +2.9% in April 2026 and +2.7% in March 2026. The inflation rate excluding food and energy, often referred to as core inflation, stood at +2.5% in May 2026 and was therefore slightly lower than overall inflation.
