Monthly production output was estimated to have decreased by 0.6% in October 2024; this follows an increase of 0.5% in August 2024 and a decrease of 0.5% in September 2024. Monthly production output in October 2024 was at its lowest level since May 2020.
 
The fall in monthly output in October 2024 resulted from decreases in "mining and quarrying" (down 3.1%) and "manufacturing" (down 0.6%); these reductions were partially offset by rises in "electricity and gas" (1.4%) and "water supply and sewerage" (0.5%).
 
The monthly decrease in manufacturing output in October 2024 saw decreases in 7 of its 13 subsectors; the largest negative contribution to manufacturing output in October 2024 came from "basic pharmaceutical products" (down 2.6%).
