Volume of Retail Trade Decreased by 0.5% in both the Euro Area and the EU in December 2025
06 February 2026In December 2025, compared with November 2025, the seasonally adjusted retail trade volume decreased by 0.5% in both the euro area and the EU, according to first estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In November 2025, retail trade volume grew by 0.1% in the euro area and by 0.2% in the EU.
In December 2025, compared with December 2024, the calendar adjusted retail sales index increased by 1.3% in the euro area and by 1.7% in the EU.
The annual average level of retail trade volume for the year 2025, compared with 2024, increased by 2.3% in both the euro area and the EU.
