United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) stated that global trade in goods and services showed signs of recovery in the first quarter of 2023, but expectations for the second half of the year were pessimistic. According to the report, the volume of merchandise trade increased by approximately $100 billion, or 1.9%, compared to the final quarter of 2022. It was also reported that global trade in services increased by $50 billion, or 2.8%, compared to the previous quarter. The report highlighted significant export growth in China and India, as well as a decrease in trade dependence between China and the United States.
