Industrial production in Japan increased by 1.0% month-over-month in October 2023, topping market forecasts of 0.8% and accelerating from a 0.5% growth a month earlier, flash data showed. This was the second straight month of expansion in industrial output, largely contributed by higher production in electronic parts and devices (6.6% vs -0.2% in September), motor vehicles, electrical machinery (2.0% vs 6.0%), and information and communication electronics equipment (3.0% vs -2.8%). On a yearly basis, industrial output rose by 0.9% in October, the first rise in three months and after a 4.4% fall in September.
