In May 2022, German exports were down by 0.5% and imports up by 2.7% on a calendar and seasonally adjusted basis compared with April 2022. Based on provisional data, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that exports increased by 11.7% and imports by 27.8% from May 2021.
After calendar and seasonal adjustment, Germany exported goods to the total value of 125.8 billion euros and imported goods to the value of 126.7 billion euros in May 2022. The foreign trade balance showed a deficit of 1.0 billion euros in May 2022.
