In 2023, the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 47,149.5 billion yuan (6,615.8 billion USD) up by 7.2 percent over the previous year. In December, the total retail sales of consumer goods went up by 7.4 percent year on year, or a month-on-month growth of 0.42 percent. The retail sales of services in 2023 grew by 20.0 percent over that of the previous year.
