According to preliminary estimates, the gross domestic product (GDP) was 126,058.2 billion yuan (17,687.9 billion USD) in 2023, an increase of 5.2 percent over the previous year at constant prices. By quarter, the GDP for the first quarter went up by 4.5 percent year on year, up by 6.3 percent for the second quarter, 4.9 percent for the third quarter and 5.2 percent for the fourth quarter. The GDP increased by 1.0 percent quarter on quarter in the fourth quarter.
