The euro area annual inflation rate was 3.2% in August 2026, up from 2.9% in July. A year earlier, the rate was 2.0%. European Union annual inflation was 3.2% in August 2026, up from 3.0% in July. A year earlier, the rate was 2.4%. These figures are published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

In August 2026, services (+1.43 percentage points, pp), energy (+1.29 percentage points, pp), non-energy industrial goods (+0.30 percentage points, pp) and food, alcohol & tobacco (+0.22 percentage points, pp) contributed positively to the annual euro area inflation rate.
