Foreign Trade Expectation Survey of 4th Quarter of 2020

Export and Import Expectation Indices realized for the 4th quarter of 2020.

08 October, 2020 - Foreign Trade Expectation Survey (FTES) reflects assessments of Turkish leading foreign trade firms regarding recent and current situations along with their future expectations. Particularly, it helps to produce indices that can be stated as leading indicators.
 

FTEI* = 100: A stable outlook to the foreign trade by the leading firms covered by the Foreign Trade Expectation Survey.
FTEI > 100: A positive outlook to the foreign trade by the leading firms covered by the Foreign Trade Expectation Survey.
FTEI < 100: A negative outlook to the foreign trade by the leading firms covered by the Foreign Trade Expectation Survey.

According to the Survey conducted between the dates of September 1 – 17, 2020; Export Expectation Index realized as 108.4 in the 4th quarter of 2020. Diffusion indices of survey questions composing the Export Expectation Index show that the level of current export orders and the export orders of the last 3 months have increasing effects over the Index while the expectations regarding exports and exports orders for the next 3 months have decreasing effects over the Index compared to the previous quarter.

 

Import Expectation Index realized as 105.9 in the 4th quarter of 2020. Among the survey questions identifying the Import Expectation Index, the expectations regarding the import unit price for the next 3 months, the level of current import orders and the level of import orders of the last 3 months have increasing effects over the Index while the expectations regarding the imports for the next 3 months have a decreasing effect over the Index compared to the previous quarter.
